Diane King, Ph.D.
Biography
Diane King is a Research Associate Professor and the Director of the Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services (CBHRS), located within the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). Dr. King received her Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Science from the University of Colorado Denver in 2006 while employed as a staff researcher at the Institute for Health Research, Kaiser Permanente Colorado. Dr. King joined CBHRS/UAA as a Research Assistant Professor in June of 2011. Dr. King’s research focuses on preventing chronic disease and promoting population health and well-being through programs, practices and policies that target behaviors, including eating, physical activity, alcohol and substance use. Dr. King’s current research includes State and Federal funding to study the implementation and dissemination of preventive interventions within diverse healthcare and community settings. Dr. King uses partnership approaches in her research, involving key stakeholders in proposal writing, data collection, and data interpretation, to maximize its reach, relevance and feasibility, and accelerate the adoption of the evidence-base into practice.
