In response to the growing risks of wildfires in Alaska’s boreal regions, my research focuses on how communities perceive wildfire hazards and prepare for them. By examining homeowner preparedness, willingness to support fuel treatments, and the barriers that limit action, this study seeks to better understand the social factors influencing fire risk reduction. The goal is to identify strategies that improve communication, encourage risk-mitigating behaviors, and strengthen community resilience in the face of increasing wildfire threats.
