Carolyn Tix was born and raised in Anchorage. She holds both a BA (UAA) and MA (UH Manoa) in Sociology with a focus on mixed research methodologies and dataset creation. As a methodologist she enjoys research into all types of social institutions and loves learning new methods, her goal is to one day continue to pursue a PhD. Carolyn’s more specific research interests include the interplay of medicalized deviance and social control, stigma and identity, and conflict theory and the stress process model. Most recently she worked as the research analyst for the Anchorage School District and gained a fascination for education policy and databases. Some of her favored methods include multi-linear OLS regression, O/A/S QCA, CBPR, and sometimes ethnomethodology.
