Dr. Mary Kopriva has joined ISER as an assistant professor of healthcare economics. She earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Economics from the University of Oregon and her B.S. in Economics and Mathematics from Creighton University. Prior to working at ISER, she spent a year teaching English in Bulgaria as a Fulbright Fellow.
Her work in the fields of health and labor economics has been focused on questions related to women’s and children’s health and tribal policy. Her research interests include how historical tribal policies impact economic and health outcomes for Native Americans, how health care access affects health-related decision making, and the influence of public policy on intimate partner violence.
“I am thrilled to be joining the research team at ISER to help contribute to our understanding of how economic policy can improve the health and well-being of Alaskans,” Dr. Kopriva said. “In particular, I am looking forward to analyzing questions about how our economic policies can support women's and children’s health and promote health equity across the state.”
