AACA Testifies to the Alaska House Transportation Committee

The Executive Director of the AACA, Will Day, collaborated with Troy LaRue, Director of Alaska’s Statewide Aviation Division of the DOT, Dan Knesek from Grant Aviation, and Dr. Mike Jones of UAA’s Institute of Social and Economic Research. Together, they informed Alaska’s House Transportation Committee about the effects of unreliable AWOS and ASOS systems throughout the state.

Working to Alleviate Alaska’s Avgas Anxiety

As part of its goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, the aviation industry is working to find and implement a replacement for 100 low-lead fuel. The uncertainty of what that final solution will look like is causing apprehension among Alaska’s business aircraft operators.

At the recent 2025 Alaska Air Carriers Association Convention, the two sessions that received the most attention – at least from piston-engine aircraft operators – were the EAGLE (Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions) presentation and the Alaska Unleaded Avgas Transition Forum.
