The Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) and the Department of Economics at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) seek to fill a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor joint appointment in economics to conduct research relevant to the ISER mission in the area of regional economics, economic geography, and/or public finance, with an emphasis on state and local economies.

ISER is the social science and public policy research institute for the University of Alaska system, with a 60-year history of high-quality research and public service. ISER researchers are multidisciplinary faculty and research professionals who collaborate with communities and agencies across the state and other arctic areas to promote data-informed decision-making. Federal, state, local, and tribal public officials, leaders of private businesses and non-governmental organizations, and the media regularly call upon ISER researchers for insight into legislative and regulatory issues impacting the people and economy of Alaska.
Both ISER and the Department of Economics are housed in the College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP). CBPP offers fourteen degree programs, six occupational endorsement certificates and two graduate certificates. The College is among six percent of business schools and colleges worldwide accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
